Replace. (figure 5-11)

Tag and unsolder electrical leads (1) from communications whip (2).
(2)
Remove three hex screws (3) and remove communications whip (2) and preformed packing (4).
(3)
Apply a thin film of lubricant to new preformed packing (4).
(4)
Install new preformed packing (4) and communication whip (2) and secure with three hex head screws (3).
Torque screws to 13-15 lb-in. (1.5-1.7 Nm).
(5)
Solder electrical connections (1) as tagged.
